Hi, Currently, when a client replies to a job email and includes other people in the CC field, the CC’d addresses are completely hidden from the Job Diary and do not carry over. Support Chat has confirmed to me that this is currently “working as designed.” Our clients frequently add their colleagues, business partners, or property managers to the CC line and explicitly ask us to include everyone on this chain or to reach out directly to someone they have copied into their response. Because ServiceM8 strips these addresses out, we have no way of knowing who else was supposed to be kept in the loop unless we ask the client to re-send the information. Which forces us to step outside of ServiceM8 to handle group communications & creates issues with centralised job logging & history. Wondering either the rationale behind why CC’d addresses are currently stripped out? Or is there a work around that the support chat bot didn’t advise on as it has directed me here? Thanks in advance
Hi Amy,
You’re right that, with Two Way Email, replies to emails sent from ServiceM8 are added to the Job Diary, but ServiceM8 doesn’t currently display or preserve the full inbound CC or BCC list in the Job Diary thread.
The way to think about the current behaviour is that the thread captures the sender and the main reply path, rather than the full external recipient list.
For cases where the client has added other people and you need a true “reply all” workflow, the current workaround is to use the external mailbox copy of the conversation, where the full recipient list is still visible.
If you’d like inbound CC recipients to be visible or carried forward inside ServiceM8, the best next step is to send that through as product feedback with the workflow impact you’ve described: How to submit feature ideas for ServiceM8 - ServiceM8 Help Center
Thanks,
Cody
